Ice Bath Adventures
I've been finishing all my self cleaning activities with the coldest water my shower can throw at me for a couple of months. It hypes me up and allegedly have other physical and mental health benefits. After seeing others start experimenting with cold immersion on my work chat platform I took the plunge (eh) and bought an ice bath. Well, it's just an inflatable isolated piece of fabric but ice bath sound better.
Buy list:
- Ice bath ~140$ CAD at time of purchase
- An aquarium thermometer ~10$ CAD
- Ice trays ~30$ for 3, can produce 2.5L of ice per batch
Total ~210$ CAD
Day 1
I have a little square of ceramic near my shower that have just enough space to put the bath. The drain can be routed directly in the shower and I can fill it up with my hand held shower head.
The minimum temperature my pipes can deliver is ~12°C at this time of year. This is apparently not cold enough to get all the cold immersion benefits without staying in for 10-15 minutes.
Day 20
The ice bath has been sold on marketplace.
Not worth the hassle. A proper setup with a pump and a chiller is not feasible with my current space and budget.
