Work and the Mercenary Mindset
Work is a business transaction. I am aware of the knowledge and skills I have to sell and their fair market value. The problems I would be solving in any other role are interesting to me insofar that they help me collaborate with my team better. I have no plan to change track.
My career goal is to stop working. I don't seek fulfillment from my day job, it's a bonus if it happen.
I will always edge my sword, but the increase in responsibilities and accountability that comes with a promotion are not worth it. A salary increase would not affect my happiness.
This is not a popular opinion, not in the startup world where growth is modus operandi.
I stand by it, money is only tool.
